Opening Reflection

As we enter this season of life, we may find ourselves longing for a deeper sense of rest and refreshment. The idea of retirement can be both exciting and overwhelming, full of new possibilities and uncertainties.

Scripture Focus

For we who have believed enter that rest, just as God said, "Since he has said, 'Today, you will be with me in paradise,' we will enter that rest." Hebrews 4:9-11 (NIV)

Main Message

In Psalm 23:2-4, David writes, "He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul." This psalm speaks of a deep and abiding rest that comes from God. Jesus invites us to come to him, just as a weary traveler might come to a refreshing oasis. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

Reflection Questions

  • What are some areas in your life where you feel weary or burdened?
  • How can you practice self-care and prioritize rest in these areas?
  • How can you invite God to lead you to still waters and green pastures in your daily life?

Prayer Focus

  • Lord, I come to you weary and burdened. I ask that you would lead me to still waters and green pastures.
  • May I learn to prioritize self-care and rest in your presence.
  • Help me to trust in your goodness and provision, even in the midst of uncertainty.

Application Steps

  • Schedule time for self-care and rest this week.
  • Reach out to a friend or loved one who could use some encouragement and support.
  • Take a few minutes each day to reflect on God's goodness and provision in your life.
