Opening Reflection

As single parents, life can be overwhelming. The weight of responsibility, the pressure to provide, and the exhaustion of juggling multiple roles can leave us feeling drained and exhausted. It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of activity, neglecting our own spiritual well-being in the process. But today, we're invited to take a step back, to quiet our minds, and to rediscover the peace that only comes from embracing the stillness within.

Scripture Focus

But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am in you, O Lord, my rock, my salvation." - Psalm 131:2

Main Message

In this verse, David describes his own experience of finding peace in the midst of turmoil. He had been through times of great struggle and hardship, but in the midst of it all, he discovered that true peace came from within. This is a powerful reminder for us as single parents. We don't have to be controlled by our circumstances; we can choose to quiet our minds and hearts, just as David did. Matthew 11:28-29 reminds us that Jesus invites us to come to him and learn from him, for he is gentle and humble of heart. As we seek his guidance and wisdom, we can experience the same kind of peace that David knew. Ephesians 4:23 encourages us to be renewed in our minds, to think differently about our circumstances and our role as single parents. And Colossians 3:2-3 reminds us that we have died with Christ and have been raised with him, giving us a new perspective on our lives and our circumstances. As single parents, we may not have the luxury of taking a break from our responsibilities, but we can take a moment each day to quiet our minds and hearts. We can take a few deep breaths, let go of our worries, and focus on the present moment. We can ask God to help us trust him more deeply, to rely on his strength and wisdom. And as we do, we can experience the peace that passes all understanding.
