Opening Reflection
As a single parent, life can be overwhelming. Between managing work, taking care of your child, and juggling household responsibilities, it's easy to feel exhausted and burnt out. The Sabbath day can often get lost in the chaos. But today, we're going to explore the importance of embracing the Sabbath in the midst of the hectic pace of life.
Scripture Focus
"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter—your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your domestic animals, nor the sojourner who is within your gates." - Exodus 20:8-11
Main Message
In a world that values productivity and busyness, it's easy to forget the importance of rest. The Sabbath is a day set apart by God to rest and recharge. It's a reminder that we are not our own creators, but are created by God and are in need of His rest. Mark 2:27 says, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." The Sabbath is not just a day off from work, but a day to reconnect with God and prioritize His presence in our lives. Isaiah 58:13 says, "If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on it, and if you call the Sabbath 'a delight,' the Holy Mountain a joy...' then your countenance will smile, and your forehead will sparkle." When we prioritize the Sabbath, we experience joy and delight in God's presence.
