Rooted in Silence
Scripture Foundation
Psalm 62:1-2 says, "Truly my soul finds rest in God alone; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock, my salvation is from him." Matthew 6:6 reminds us, "But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret." Job 13:1 asks, "Behold, his eyes are upon their ways; they are abhorrent to him; he makes even the innocent tremble." And 1 Corinthians 2:2-3 says, "For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling."
Main Content
Silence is not the absence of noise, but the presence of God. In a world filled with distractions, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle. But as missionaries, we need to learn to quiet our minds and hearts before God. This is not about being quiet for the sake of being quiet, but about creating space for God to speak.
As you reflect on your own prayer life, what are some common distractions that keep you from entering into silence with God? Take a moment to write them down.
