Rooted in His Love
Scripture Foundation
In Ephesians 3:17-19, Paul writes, "I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ." He prays that we would be rooted in love, just as a tree is rooted in the earth. This foundation of love is what allows us to comprehend the vastness of God's love.
In John 15:5, Jesus says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." Just as the branches are connected to the vine, we are connected to Christ. This connection enables us to bear fruit in our relationships and daily lives.
In Romans 5:8, we read, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." The cross is the ultimate demonstration of God's love. It's a love that redeems us from our sins and sets us free to live as sons and daughters of God.
In Colossians 3:2-3, Paul exhorts us to "set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." As we set our hearts and minds on things above, we put off the old self and put on the new self in Christ.
