Practicing the Presence

As Jesus promised, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them" (Matthew 18:20). How can we experience this profound promise in our daily lives?

Scripture Foundation

In Colossians 3:2-3, Paul exhorts us to "set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." He reminds us that our awareness of God's presence is closely tied to our humility.

In 1 Corinthians 4:2, Paul writes, "Now it is required that those who would govern well over God's flock should be men who do it not for show or for personal profit, but with zeal and sincerity." This principle applies to our spiritual growth, as we seek to be accountable to one another.

In Luke 17:3-4, Jesus teaches us the importance of humility, saying, "Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times a day, and seven times a day returns to you, saying, 'I repent,' you must forgive him." This teaching highlights the need for self-reflection and accountability in our relationships.

Main Content

To practice the presence of Jesus, we must first acknowledge His presence in our daily lives. This requires intentional prayer and reflection. Take a few minutes each day to quiet your heart and mind before God. Ask Him to reveal His presence to you, and listen for His gentle whispers.

Next, cultivate gratitude for God's presence. Reflect on the ways He has shown up in your life recently. Write down three things you're thankful for each day. This practice will help you stay focused on the good things in your life and cultivate a sense of dependence on God.

Finally, find accountability in a community of believers. Share your struggles and triumphs with a trusted friend or mentor. This will help you stay on track and provide encouragement when you need it most.
