Practicing the Presence of God
Scripture Foundation
Matthew 18:20 says, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." (NIV) This verse reminds us that God is always present with us, even when we're surrounded by others. Psalm 139:7-12 describes God's intimate and constant awareness of believers, saying, "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?" (NIV) Colossians 3:2-3 encourages us to "set our minds on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God" and to "put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature." (NIV) In Christ, we find ourselves seated with Him in heavenly places. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, saying, "Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I take the members of Christ and unite them to a prostitute?" (NIV)
