Practicing the Presence of God
Scripture Foundation
Psalm 16:11 declares, "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand, eternal pleasures." This verse invites us to seek God's presence and find joy in His companionship. Colossians 3:3 reminds us to "put to death" our selfish desires and attitudes, making room for a deeper awareness of God's presence. In Luke 17:3, Jesus teaches us the importance of humility and self-awareness in recognizing His presence.
Main Content
Practicing the presence of God requires intentional effort and mindfulness. Set aside 15 minutes each day to engage in a spiritual discipline that works for you – meditation, prayer, or journaling. As you begin, ask yourself:
- What are your expectations for this time with God? Are you seeking guidance, comfort, or clarity?
- What distractions can you eliminate during this time? Turn off your phone, find a quiet space, or use a timer to stay focused.
- How can you cultivate a sense of gratitude and humility during this time? Reflect on God's goodness and provision in your life.
