Practicing Presence in the Storm
When life's storms rage on, it's easy to feel lost and abandoned. But what if we could learn to trust God's presence in the midst of turmoil?
Scripture Foundation
Isaiah 43:2 - "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you. When you walk through fire, the flames shall not scorch you." Matthew 14:25-27 - "He got into the boat with his disciples, and he who was seized with epilepsy cried out, 'Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!' Jesus said to him, 'You of little faith, why did you doubt?' He got up and took his mat and walked home." Psalm 23:4 - "Your rod and your staff comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over." John 16:33 - "I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."Main Content
Imagine being in a boat with Jesus during a fierce storm. The winds are howling, the waves are crashing, and the disciples are terrified. But Jesus is calm, sleeping peacefully. When they wake him, He rebukes the wind and the waves, and the storm subsides. In this moment, Jesus demonstrates His presence and control over the storm. He shows that even in the midst of turmoil, He remains unshaken. This is a powerful reminder that no matter what life throws our way, God is always present and in control. But how can we apply this truth to our own lives? When we feel like we're adrift in a storm, how can we trust that God is with us? Take a moment to reflect on a time when you felt like you were in a storm. Maybe it was a difficult season in your relationship, a challenging time at work, or a personal struggle. How did you feel? What were some of the emotions you experienced? Now, imagine Jesus standing beside you in that storm. What would He say to you? What would He do to comfort you?Learning Objectives
