Opening Reflection
As we navigate the complexities of our digital lives, it's easy to get caught up in the constant stream of information and notifications. But in today's devotional, we're going to take a step back and explore what it means to surrender our screens and embrace a deeper connection with God.
Scripture Focus
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and vermin destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor vermin destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:19-21
Main Message
In today's world, it's easy to get caught up in the pursuit of wealth, status, and material possessions. But Jesus teaches us that our true treasure lies not in the things of this world, but in our relationship with Him. When we store up treasures in heaven, we're not just accumulating material possessions, but we're investing in a deeper connection with God.
In Colossians 3:23, we're reminded to "work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men." When we surrender our screens and focus on our relationship with God, we're working heartily for Him. We're not just scrolling through social media or checking our notifications; we're using our time to build a stronger foundation in Christ.
As Paul writes in Romans 12:2, "Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." When we surrender our screens and focus on our relationship with God, we're transformed by the renewing of our mind. We're able to test and approve God's will for our lives.
In Ephesians 5:8, we're reminded that "at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light." When we surrender our screens and focus on our relationship with God, we're living as children of light. We're shining a light in a world that desperately needs it.
So today, take a step back from your screens and focus on your relationship with God. Ask yourself these questions:
