Opening Reflection

As we begin this new day, let's take a moment to acknowledge that we're not perfect. We're works in progress, still growing and learning. And in this imperfection, we find ourselves in good company with the apostle Paul, who wrote, "For it is God's purpose that his Son should be glorified through you" (Philippians 1:6).

Scripture Focus

For it is God's purpose that his Son should be glorified through you, because in your sufferings, brother, you have overflowed with joy, as though the roots of Jesse had drunk deep from the watered ground. And in this you rejoice, though now for a little while, that is weighed down by various trials, you will be overjoyed exceedingly, as you reveal in the revelation of the glory that belongs to you from Christ." - Philippians 1:18-20

Main Message

Paul's words in Philippians 1:6 remind us that God's purpose is to glorify His Son through us. But what does that mean for our daily lives? It means that even in our imperfections and struggles, we can find joy and purpose. Just as the roots of Jesse drank deeply from the watered ground, so too can we drink from the living water of God's presence and provision. And when we do, we'll find ourselves overflowing with joy, even in the midst of trials.

Reflection Questions

  • What areas of your life feel like they're struggling to grow or flourish?
  • How can you seek God's presence and provision in those areas?
  • What does it mean to you to have your roots "drunk deep from the watered ground"?

Prayer Focus

  • Ask God to reveal areas where you need to seek His presence and provision.
  • Pray for the strength to trust in His goodness and provision.
  • Praise God for the promise of joy and purpose in your imperfections.

Application Steps

  • Take a few minutes each day to reflect on your struggles and seek God's presence and provision.
