Opening Reflection
As small group leaders, we often strive for perfection, thinking that if we can just get everything just right, our groups will thrive. But what if we're chasing an unattainable standard? What if our pursuit of perfection is actually hindering our effectiveness?
Scripture Focus
And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified. (Romans 8:28-30)
Main Message
In Romans 8:28-30, Paul reminds us that God is not looking for perfection from us, but rather for our imperfect selves to be transformed into the image of His Son. This means that our pursuit of perfection is not about achieving a certain standard, but about allowing God to work in and through us despite our flaws and weaknesses. As leaders, this is liberating news! We can stop striving for an unattainable ideal and instead focus on embracing our imperfections as opportunities for growth and transformation.
