Beyond the Screen's Siren Song

In today's digital age, it's easy to get caught up in the endless stream of information and entertainment at our fingertips. But as Christians, we must be intentional about setting our eyes on what truly matters.

Scripture Focus

"Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. For in him you were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will." - Colossians 3:1-2 (NIV)

Main Message

In a world where our attention is constantly being pulled in different directions, it's easy to lose focus on what truly matters. But as believers, we have a choice. We can choose to set our hearts and minds on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. This means prioritizing our relationship with Him and living according to His will. As Paul writes in Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will." When we set our eyes on Christ, we are transformed by His love and power. We become more like Him, reflecting His character and character traits in our daily lives. But it's not just about avoiding the temptation of the world; it's about actively seeking God's will and purpose for our lives. As Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:33, "Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." When we prioritize God's kingdom and righteousness, we find true fulfillment and purpose. As believers, we are called to live a life that is pleasing to God. In 1 Corinthians 4:3, Paul writes, "It is a trustworthy saying: If someone bears up under trials, it stands to reason that that person is worthy of honor." We are worthy of honor because of our relationship with Christ, not because of our own accomplishments or achievements. So let us be intentional about setting our hearts on things above. Let us seek God's will and purpose for our lives, and trust that He will guide us every step of the way.
