Faithful Focus: Prioritizing Purpose
Scripture Reading and Analysis
In Colossians 3:23-24, Paul reminds us that our purpose is not defined by our earthly circumstances, but by our relationship with God. "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." (Colossians 3:23-24, NIV)
Similarly, in Matthew 6:33, Jesus teaches us to seek God's kingdom above earthly priorities. "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33, NIV)
Hebrews 12:2 reminds us that Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith, and that He is worthy of all glory and honor. "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." (Hebrews 12:2, NIV)
In 1 Corinthians 15:58, Paul encourages us to persevere in pursuing our purpose. "Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves full permission to please God." (1 Corinthians 15:58, NIV)
Main Teaching
When we prioritize our purpose in Christ, we find that our priorities are shifted. We no longer focus on earthly pursuits, but on pleasing God. This shift can be challenging, as it requires us to surrender our own desires and ambitions. However, it is in this surrender that we discover true fulfillment.
As we fix our eyes on Jesus, we are reminded that our purpose is not defined by our circumstances, but by our relationship with Him. This perspective allows us to navigate life's challenges with greater ease and perseverance.
