"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

In this passage, Jesus teaches us to prioritize seeking God's kingdom and His righteousness above all else. This is a call to focus on what truly matters – our relationship with God.

Notice how this verse doesn't say "seek first your own happiness" or "seek first your own success." Rather, it says to seek God's kingdom and His righteousness. This is a radical shift in perspective, isn't it?

When we prioritize God's kingdom and His righteousness, we're not just seeking blessings or good things for ourselves. We're seeking a deeper connection with God Himself.

In Colossians 3:2, Paul writes, "Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God." This is another call to focus on what truly matters – our relationship with God.

Hebrews 12:2 reminds us to "fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith." This is a powerful image – to fix our eyes on Jesus, the One who has gone before us and has paved the way for us.

Psalm 63:8 declares, "My soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water." This psalm is a beautiful expression of the soul's deep longing for God.
