Let's start by examining three key passages that highlight the importance of keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus:

• Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God." (NIV)
• Hebrews 12:2 reminds us, "Fix your eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith." (NIV)
• Matthew 14:31 notes that when Jesus walked on the water, his disciples "took courage and stepped out of the boat, intending to walk toward Jesus." (NIV)
• And in Luke 17:6, Jesus says, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Go and uproot itself and plant itself in the sea,' and it will obey you!" (NIV)

In each of these passages, we see the importance of focusing on Jesus. When we set our hearts on things above, fix our eyes on Jesus, and take courage to step out in faith, we're reminded that our salvation and faithfulness come from Him alone.

Looking to ourselves for strength and guidance can lead to a life of self-sufficiency and pride. But when we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, we're able to trust in His power and provision, even in the midst of challenges.
