Faithful Focus: Cultivating a Heart Set on Heaven

Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God." (NIV)
What does it mean to set our hearts on things above? It means focusing on eternal things, rather than earthly ones. When we do this, we're reminded that our true citizenship is in heaven, not on earth.
Matthew 6:21 says, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be." (NIV)
This verse reminds us that where our treasure is, our heart will follow. If we're storing up treasures on earth, our hearts will be divided. But if we're storing up treasures in heaven, our hearts will be fully focused on God.
Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he is and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." (NIV)
Faith is the foundation of a faithful focus. Without faith, we can't please God. But with faith, we can trust in His goodness and sovereignty.
Isaiah 26:3 says, "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." (NIV)
When we trust in God, we can experience perfect peace, even in the midst of uncertainty. Our minds are steadfast when we focus on Him.
