By Matthew
I've had my fair share of wild rides in my years of following Jesus. I mean, have you seen the looks on our faces when we tried to walk on water? (Okay, maybe that's a story for another time.) But one day, I found myself in a particularly hairy situation. We were on a boat, chugging along on the Sea of Galilee, and suddenly, a fierce storm rolled in. The winds howled, the waves crashed against the boat, and we were all freaking out.A Stormy Situation
I'm not proud to admit it, but I was getting a little anxious. I mean, we were just a bunch of fishermen-turned-apostles trying to spread the Good News. We weren't exactly experts in weather forecasting. (Trust me, I was not exactly the most calm and collected person that day.) But then, Jesus shows up and says, "Hey, guys, chill out."
And honestly, I'm thinking to myself (between you and me), "Uh, sure thing, Jesus. Easy for you to say. You're the one who can walk on water. We're just trying not to drown over here." But Jesus wasn't having it. He's like, "Get out of the boat." And I'm like, "Uh-uh. No way. We're good right here in this tiny boat."
The Power of Faith
But then Jesus takes Peter by the hand and starts walking on the water towards the disciples. And let me tell you, it was like watching a miracle unfold before our eyes. Peter's all like, "Hey, Jesus, can I try?" And Jesus is like, "Sure thing, Peter." So Peter gets out of the boat and starts walking on water.
Now, I'm not gonna lie; I was skeptical at first. I mean, this was some crazy stuff right here. But Peter's all like, "Whoa! This is amazing!" And I'm like, "Yeah, no kidding." We were all cheering him on.
Lessons Learned
- True fulfillment doesn't come from being known by many, but from being faithful in the role you've been given.
- Faithfulness matters more than fame.
- You don't have to be an expert in weather forecasting to trust God.
- You never know what miracles might happen when you take a leap of faith.
The Bottom Line
In God's kingdom, faithfulness is what counts. Whether you find yourself in the spotlight or serving behind the scenes, know that your steady commitment to following Jesus makes a difference. As one who has found deep joy in serving without acclaim, I can testify that there is no greater privilege than simply being faithful where God has placed you.
P.S. To my fellow apostles who still think I'm crazy for walking on water (looking at you, Thomas), and to any modern readers who are skeptical about this whole thing... trust me; it was a wild ride.
